Welcome to the M.A.D.A.O.S Website!

March and District Amateur Operatic Society was formed in 1957 and has presented a 'main' production at Easter every year since 1958.  Since 1989 the society has also performed a second annual revue style production, usually at the end of October.

Our next show is Country Roads directed by Kerry Casey.  The first rehearsal will be held on 1 September 2009 with nightly performances from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st October at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinée at 2.30pm.

Next year's Easter production is confirmed as Calamity Jane and the society is pleased to welcome Michele Larkin back as director, with the Musical Director still to be confirmed.  The first rehearsal will take place on 10 November 2010 and the show will run from Wednesday 14th April to Saturday 17th April 2010 with a matinée performance on Saturday.

MADAOS will be presenting a tribute show to Sally Lockwood at the Trinity Church on 11th September 2009.  Sally posthumously received the Iona Morton Cup, which was accepted by her husband George.

Society members should by now have received the quarterly newsletter, but for those who haven't (or who have mislaid it) it is available for download here.

Don't forget to help raise funds for MADAOS whenever you shop online with Easy Fundraising!!

In our pursuit of raising funds, we have registered the Society at www.easyfundraising.org.uk.  They provide a FREE service where you can shop with your favourite on line stores AT NO EXTRA COST and raise funds for MADAOS.  You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally but simply by using the links from the easyfundraising site first, each retailer will make a cashback donation to us.

If you already shop online, why not help us at no extra cost for the purchases you would make anyway.

Further information can be found at the easy fundraising website or please ask Claire Lilley if you have any questions.

MADAOS are always keen to welcome new members to the society, so if you have ever felt a desire to appear on stage, or help out in a backstage role, please get in touch using the details on our 'Contacts' page.

A plea from the MADAOS backstage co-operative! We are desperate for a more suitable workshop and storage facilities in order to continue making our own sets.  If you have some space in a dry barn, warehouse, industrial building or the like, with lighting, electricity and access to water, ideally within a five mile radius of March, please let us know (again using the details on the 'Contacts' page).  We would be happy to negotiate a rent for the use and upkeep of the space.

A further plea!! The society desperately needs a wardrobe mistress.  We hope to have additional volunteers to assist and make it more of a team effort, but every ship needs a captain, and we need someone who will co-ordinate it.  As before, please use the details on the 'Contacts' page to get in touch.
